A new way with stencil paste

This card is made using some of my embossing paste that has been sitting in my embossing drawer being very neglected. I ran my cream card stock through a heart embossing folder then took some of the paste and painted it on the raised hearts adding a bit of pink glitter glue with the paste. Did the same for the center heart which adds a bit of texture to the whole card. I enjoy how the paste looks on the raised embossing area, just wish I could paste and emboss at the same time without a big sticky mess. Any ideas on that?

Love: We are taught by God to LOVE one another

Ladies my study this week used this passage in I Thessalonians 4:9 about loving one another, it is great to be reminded daily that it is all about love. In fact Paul not only tells us to love but to to do so more and more. Yikes I think I have a ways to go on the more and more.
I made this card just because I loved the paper, sometimes it is as simple as that. Have a great day and why not love on someone a bit today?

3 Tiered Love card

Today I tried to make my Valentine's card a bit unique. I think I got a bit carried away with the tiers but I was having so much fun playing, ever do that? I cut out each mini card with Spellbinders lace squares and just layered them on top of one another making them hang over the top just a bit for each layer. I stamped in the last two layers but in the first I added an extra heart. I just had to add the bling to the front because what is pink without bling? What do you think about the layers? A New Year has begun!

I just want my friend Barbara , yes you, to know that she is the reason for this tired person to make a card and post it. Ladies I have been working 30+ hours every week outside the home at our local candy store. Christmas is one of their big holidays along with the upcoming Valentine's day.

I have been so focused on working that my poor craft room has had no crafting going on. Yesterday my good friend inspired me to get up and visit that room, which I did. Now granted it only took me 3 hours to get it all together but I did. So Barbara this post is for you, thanks!

Christmas candy filled cones

Finially ladies I have had a moment to post. I have been working full time and have hardly a moment to be in my craft studio :( . This is not the time to be missing in there, I miss creating and visiting with everyone.

Last week I went to see one of my dear friends at one of her shows and she had made these to sell. I was going to take a picture of the one she made and I bought but I took it apart immediaty and it is now burried under a pile of card stock, ribbons and lace. Thank you Barbara for the idea and the inspiration to step into my creative den, you are the queen of creativity.

These will be given at a dinner party I am hosting next week and the candy inside is what I have been making at my job. The chocolate shop I have been working at is local and 31 years ago I started working for them. I worked with them for 18 years then left to start my own stamp store. New twist on pumpkin pie

The other day a dear friend came over and brought me a pattern to make a slice of pie from card stock. She had been on line and saw it and made one. I thought this was so cute that I knew instantly what I needed to do. I am working at our local family candy store which makes the best chocolates around, with that in mind I decided that not only would I make a slice of "pie" with candy in it but would make a whole pie to bring to our family Thanksgiving. My family hates pumpkin pie but I am sure they won't after getting this.

I made each slice with their favorite candy inside so everyone will just love their pie this year. What do you think about this ladies?

Tree's

I just marvel at the way God has woven all through His Word the subject of trees. From Genesis to Revelation God talks about trees in one form or another. The tree of life is the one we all need to know about, for we need to have the right to that tree to enter the gates of heaven. As believers we have that right, the question is do you believe?

These trees are made with some of Magenta's peel-offs put over cardstock that has been made with the direct to paper technique. These are not the trees I spoke about in scripture but they are so fun. I went a little unique in color choice but it is refreshing against all my ohter red and green Christmas cards. Why not go a bit unique with color on some of your cards this season it will put a smile on the reciever.

A new Cuttlebug challenge

This is a center step down card which I have to admit are fun and add just another dimension to the same ole card. I used a Sizzix embossing folder that I found hidden in my holiday stash, really got to dig more and find what other treasures I have.

Today I was looking for something in my studio and I came across my old stenciling brass stencils, which by the way is not what I was looking for. I immediately sat down and went through them remembering all the things I had created with them years ago. I just could not put them away for another how many years without playing with them, do you know what I mean? It is like my old friends and I a few weeks ago at our reunion we just had to sit awhile and visit with each other. This is what resulted with my visit with my brass stencil friends, it was fun catching up on technique for sure. Maybe it is time for you to drag out your stencils and give them a whirl.

A Rose is a rose

I found this wonderful collage paper in my stash today and thought I would have a bit of play with it. I cut out the leaves, flowers and bird then high glossed the bird which really does not show in the picture. I love using gloss but hate the waiting for it to dry time. I always get something on it before it is cured even though I put it high up, just the way it goes for me and wet sticky things. I also used one of Memory Box new dies which are just so great, do you have any yet?

I have spent the last two weeks with out of state company visiting so now that the house is quiet again I may be able to play a bit more :0) It was great visiting with my collage roommates of 40 years ago, we have changed so much in many ways and yet in others it is as if we were 18 again. Of course the energy we once had is a bit diminished but our memories are still with us. Maybe in another 20 years it will be different but for now it was great knowing that time does not always change friendships. Great seeing you "girls"!

Pumpkins and Spiders

I must say of all the seasons God has designed for us the fall is my favorite, especially here in the North East where the colors change, the air gets a bit crisper and pumpkins show up everywhere. Today I even bought some Pepperidge Farm limited edition Pumpkin Spice swirl bread. Our family enjoyed last Nov.-Dec. their cranberry swirl bread so now we are trying this seasonal one. I am sure what we don't eat will be made up into a fantastic bread pudding IF there is any left.

I made these pumpkin themed creations for some ladies who will be coming to visit this weekend, I wanted them to leave with a little fall to take home. I made the large pumpkin following Angie's tutorial over at ODBD. She did such a nice job I just had to make one, thank you Angie. If you want to make one go to here and follow.

Another card for class

Here is another card I am adding to the Xmas card class, I just love the scallops at the bottom and the simple white, green and black color scheme. I used a bit of liquid applique which I sometimes forget about using. With our temps in New England being at 76 it is a bit hard to think about the cold that will come with the holiday season in 2 months. Guess I should take a walk outside and smell the roses.

This verse from Romans is such a wonderful one to stamp to encourage others. The topic of grace is one we all need to hear and experience. A definition of grace is: favor or kindness shown without regard to the worth or merit of the one who receives it and in spite of what that person deserves. Do you need someone to show you a bit of grace today?

The Lord God is "merciful and gracious, long suffering, and abounding in goodness and truth." (Ex. 34:6)

"...We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (Jn.) 1:14

"..and who has insulted the Spirit of grace."(Hebrews 10:29)

Do you see it ladies? Grace is in the three persons of God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. If you are a believer and are filled today with the Spirit, you are equipped to be a person who will show grace on those you encounter today.This grace may be given to someone in your house, someone on the road or even that annoying person who stands behind you in the grocery store. Are you ready to give some grace?

Christmas card class card

I have gone and done it again, planned another Christmas making card class. I create 10 cards that my class will be making by following the simple instructions and materials I place at 10 spots around the table. We usually have a great time chatting and creating then we break for lunch and begin again right after. All this fun time fellwoshipping, creating and eating for the low cost of $20.00 is not to bad, do you think? I have only 7 more cards to create and am hoping Christmas does not come any faster then it is on the calendar. Hope you have started your cards, the season is on the horizon for sure.

Quilled wedding card

Today I will be going to a wedding with this card in tow. When the invitation came a few months ago (seen partially in picture above ) I just knew these peacock feathers needed to come alive with a bit of quilling. I copied the invitation and used it in the background of the saying and quilled feathers to add to the front. This is certainly untradional of me but the card was a fresh look so I was inspired to be fresh with my quilling, see you never know what may show up at your door needing to be quilled. The lacing is done with some twine that is thread through a Martha Stewart punch I dragged out. I mean really do I need all my punches? YES!!!!!!

a season for every activity under the sun

Today as I stepped out on my deck I found leaves already beginning to fall, don't the trees know it's still Aug? When ODBD put out this challenge I knew I would have to start thinking fall since my yard is telling me the seasons are going to be changing here in New England soon.

God tells us through this verse in Ecclesiastes that there are seasons for every activity and they do change according to His planned timing. Are you experiencing a new season of life? Maybe you will be soon so look for the signs of change and be ready to embrace what new thing will come your way. Seasons can be a great time to start fresh and anew will you be ready?

February Hearts

Today I am giving you an idea of how slow my calendar making is going, I am only in Feb. how sad is this. The rate I am going I will have t his job done by next June. A time for everything

In this verse of scripture we see that God himself has ordained seasons and times for everything, for which I am thankful. Today I am trying to push aside this lovely time of summer and fast forward us to Jan, where here on the East coast we experience cold, snow and ice. I have started making my calendars for gifts for next year and Jan. is always what I start with. I must say it is hard to think snow and ice when it is 89 outside and the sweat is pouring down but I think I have managed to set the stage for what is to come way to soon. For now ladies enjoy this season God has given us for we know he has other seasons to come, some we like and others well...

You all have heard that expression of keeping things simple, right? With summer being in full force I hope many of you are taking time to keep your life on a simpler, gentle speed so you can enjoy some of the simple things in life. The noise of a gentle breeze rustling the leaves, the chirp of the birds, the smell of your garden flowers, taking time to watch the humming birds, etc. We live in such a rushed complicated world that it really does refresh the soul by taking that time to enjoy our lives. Hope this card and message will encourage you to do that very thing today.

The flower here is one of a grouping of 3D flowers that come in a package that I have found lately. They are easy to use and best yet quick which gives me more time to enjoy my life. Have a great day ladies.

Things of old

I was cleaning the other day and found some lovely old sewing things of my grandmothers and thought why not display them. I remember as a child going through my mothers old tin of buttons, loving the sound of the metal and bone buttons hitting one another as they slipped through my fingers. Thankfulness

Ladies, I work in a retail store and am amazed at the lack of thankfulness I hear in the younger generation. I see children begging and whining for a certain toy from the parents and once purchased a grabbing and walking off without one sound of gee thanks mom or dad. I just had to show a "thank you" type card to let everyone of you know how much I am thankful for every time you visit and leave me a comment. I know how much I appreciate when someone thanks me for anything so for this I want to return the thank yous to all of you. Now how much more may we need to take a bit of time to say thank you "Father" for all the wonderful and difficult things He has allowed in our lives. I don't know about you but I don't want to be looked at by the angels and the Father in heaven as one of those thankless children I have been seeing lately. Will you join me in giving thanks today?

Paper piercing for ODBD

God's creation in quilling

I have added the second picture to show the shells up close, they are not perfect but are so pretty.

Living near the ocean is one of the many blessings God has allowed me to experience since childhood. He decided where and when to place me here on earth so I had no choice but if I had had one I think I would have found the sea and stayed myself. I love finding the treasures there and scallop shells are just one of many of my found treasures. I made this quilled shell along with the flower necklace to sell at a local gift shop, hope someone will "find" them. I praise God for His inspiration without it what could we all really make that has not already been created?

Being Merry about Christ

As I was making this Christmas card today and reflecting on the greeting "Merry Christmas" I began to think that everyday could be a time to be merry about Christ in my life. I know it is not the time of year we celebrate the birth of Christ but when I think of all that Christ has been doing in my life for the last few months I really am "merry about Christ", do you feel the same way?
As you begin to think about making those Christmas cards for later in the year why not take time and be Merry because of who He is and what He does, it may even make you sing a tune or two as you stamp all those cards, just a thought ladies.

I know it has been a long time for me to post something here but we have been away for three weeks then I have come back to hit the pavement working in a new job. I had today off and could not wait to play in my very dusty craft room.

I saw something like this at a store the other day and just had to come home and create my own version. The inspiration has come from: , a delightful place to visit and be inspired. I love the new paper line called Butterfly garden. I found some lovely wood bird cages that I just could not resit using stopping short on using them all.
Hope your summer is going well and I really do hope to be posting a bit more in between working hours, oh to have a job of just stamping that would pay the bills wouldn't you love it?

Beach or Sea glass

For those of you who have asked about beach glass or sea glass I thought I would show you a few pieces of some I have gathered at my local beaches. Red, blue, yellow, orange are the most difficult to find, while white, brown, light blue are easier. The glass is found washed up on the sand after someone years before threw a bottle of whatever into the ocean and the sea has churned it up and beaten it against rocks which has worn off the sharp edges of the broken glass. There is a terrific book called "Pure Sea Glass" by Richard LaMotte that is a great way to learn about the glass and really see all the glass treasures that await you. I will show more treasures that I find after I take a few more pictures, I just love finding treasures as I walk the beach which at this time of year is as much as possible. In 7 days I will be walking beaches in St. John, VI to find my glass. If anyone has a collection would you share it with us, I would love to see what you all collect.

Cloth Roseetts

I can't believe it has been this long since I have posted ladies. Time just seems to be slipping away from me. With working now my days and nights just blend with one another and my craft room is building with dust. :(

I have managed to make some cards and gift boxes with these special cloth rosettes on top for my Bible study group of ladies. Over the year we have studied Isaiah and we are having our last day today. The boxes are filled with a small mesh bag filled with assorted sea glass that I have found over the years. We all are planning a day at the beach to collect some af this delightful glass but for now they get a bag to get them started with sea glass picking fever. Living near the ocean one can come down with this rather quickly if you are not careful.:) The tag on the box is a verse I found that goes just perfectly with the gift. It says: "And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire..." Revelation 15:2 I just love it when God puts things like this in His Word. Any way each box and card is different because each one of my women are unique and different, I certainly hope they like them.

Dress up

Today will be a really nice spring day in my neck of the woods so it is only natural that I get out some spring clothes. I have spent the last 2 weeks removing my whole clothes closet for the painter to come and paint. Now that it is done I am taking out my spring and summer clothes and putting away the winter. This is a ritual most of us in New England do every spring and fall because of the seasonal change. I must say I dread it but it is almost completed so I thought I would show you a project I made for a DT submission. We all like a new dress from time to time and this one is made with nothing other then May Art ribbons. I had so much fun dressing this figure ( it is nicer then mine for sure) The ribbons they sell are just beautiful and work well when manipulated. O Lord my strength

There are some days in my life that I am all out of strength and am quite frankly at the end of myself. Ever feel like this? I am ever so thankful that being a Christian gives me access to the One who can give me strength. Do you need some strength today, if so go to the only one source of total unfailing strength He will supply it to you abundantly.

Now this card is made with only one Verve flower stamp, I used it in the background plus the one highlighted one. I must confess am enjoying the simple cards these days ladies.

No Ribbon challenge

Over at ODBD they have a challenge that seems harmless and a no brain er. It is to make a card using NO RIBBON. You can use lace and other embellishments but no ribbon. I thought great this is easy, oops wrong! I just figured out I love my ribbons ladies. I think my card is a bit naked without my ribbon so I will give this to a man who will not mind the ribbon missing. How about you are you a ribbon lover?

I was out the other day at my favorite beach spot and found this lovely white scallop shell.I just adore how God creates nature to be so diverse, all the other scallop shells were brown or gray but here is one that is uniquely different. Isn't that how God creates all of us uniquely different but yet the same. Just look around you today and take notice of what is different yet the similar, I think you will be surprised.

Verve Stamp Challenge

As I was browsing the web last night I went and visited the Verve stamp site because I really do like what the girls over there do with the great stamps Verve puts together. I only have a few but I certainly was intrigued with the Color Me Spring challenge. Since I see some of my spring flowers are coming up I thought I would give this a shot. I used an older set of Verve stamps for the flowers, stamped and embossed them in white onto pink card stock. I was thinking pink because my husband is down south and was sharing that the cherry blossoms were all bloomed. I just adore the color of those trees. Quilled flowers

Today was a quilling type day for me and my friend lent me this stamp that just begged to be quilled. I love this stamp from Magenta,the flowers are just so sweet and can almost be made to look like any flower by coloring it differently. As you can see I have been making attempts to use all different mediums that I have collected and stored away, have you taken things out of your storage yet?

Stencils anyone?

Today ladies I found another technique I had put away for that "someday I will play with" day. I found my stencils ( they were near the watercolor paints I used yesterday)and I found some of the stenciling paste to go with the stencils. I had bought these things long ago and just never took the time to play so here is my version of using stencils and the paste. After the paste dried I then covered it with a iridescent/pearlescent paint to match the pearly metallic look of this paper by s.e.i. called moonrise. The braid I found in a local cloth store which I added some metallic thread through. To add to the theme of pearls and metallic I used pearls and gems to the stencil and braid. I think this will make a beautiful wedding card for my stash, what do you think? I welcome your thoughts.

Sea Shells by the Seashore

Happy April Fool's day ladies. This is one day not so long ago my children would so love to see coming, how about yours? They would spend time creating the perfect joke on dad but dad would always be one step ahead. The squeals of delight can still be heard in my mind, don't you just sometimes miss those days?
Today I created this card by stamping and embossing my image with white powder. Then I painted with water colors the image and area around the image. The embossing resists the paint which helps in this washed dreamy look. I had not been using my water colors lately so this was a nice way to revisit them, get yours out ladies and play along.

Simple Wreath

Another simple card today ladies. I have been watching spring wreaths go up on the houses here so I thought why not on our cards? I used a Cuttlebug embossing sleeve for the background and then used some small punches I had dug out from the bottom of a drawer. Yes ladies it does pay to dig to the bottom of our drawers from time to time. If you like share what you uncovered lately in your digging adventures.

Have you ever heard that cry from your children when going on a trip, are we there yet? I myself am beginning to cry out are we there yet when it comes to warm beach going weather. I made this card with the hopes that I soon will be enjoying the beach with scores of others to cool down from the heat of the day. While for now it is only 32 here in the North East I am choosing to believe we are almost there. I know I am dreaming but we has to have dreams now and then don't we?

Lace is one of those things that you really adore and are drawn to or you completely can not stand it because it reminds you of some old stuffy place. I do adore lace but certainly in a controlled way. I would have a hard time if everything in my house was doily covered but a bit of lace on a card now that is lovely. Over at Crop Stop they are doing a bit of lace challenge so this is what has inspired me to drag out my laces. I went easy on the amount of lace for the friend this will go to doesn't love lace. Why not try a bit of lace today on your card a send it to a friend, I am sure she will love it.

Crop Stop challenge 11 and ODBD challenge

I took the opportunity today to combine two challenges in one. I was over at ODBD and their challenge was for a new life theme using flowers or Easter images.Of course we are to use their amazing stamps which is not hard for me to use because I have so many. :) Then as I was visiting Crop Stop I saw their challenge 11 sketch from Gloria Stengel (who by the way designs some fantastic sketches) So I combined them both in this one card. Boy as I sit here watching it snow again I am so ready for those spring flowers ODBD is encouraging us to use.

I enjoy the golds, blacks and red of these papers so even though this is not a spring type card it still does have the flower theme going for it. I guess it must have been the dark drab day that inspired the dark rich colors.

Today after being unable to get to my craft room because of other obligations I got to do a bit of creating. I wanted to make something simple to get me going and this card certainly is simple. I took out my flower soft and flocking and added this to an old PSX stamp that I always loved. I added some pearls for interest and just tied a bow under the simple saying. Now that I have played a bit I am ready to start afresh and anew how about you?

I always have great intentions to make extra cards to have at my finger tips but for some reason I am always behind. Some friends and I made a deal in Dec. that we would have a create day once a month starting in Jan. Well guess how many times we have met? Now you two ladies know who you are so I won't embarrass all three of us by naming you in this confessing time. For everyones information we have not met once, we have great intentions but life just gets in the way. So for now I am one card ahead of myself how about you?

Today I am showing you a project that I made in hopes I would be among the 25 contestants for the Graphic 45 DT call. I did not make the cut so instead of sending this to them I can now show you what I have been doing. This project was so much fun especially with this new spring time collection. I found a fairy that matched the fairy on the paper along with a frog, bunny, and baby chick. I added feathers, eggs,nests, grass, and sticks all around the four sides.I will now display this with my bird nest display which I will photo tomorrow for us. I must say this paper is my favorite so far and even though I did not make the list I will still create using their papers. We are looking forward to spring now aren't we ladies?

Woven together

As you can see I am on a pink theme this week which always leads a girlie card . I was challenged by May Arts ribbon this week also to create something using ribbons, since I am a card maker what else could I do?. The lower part of the card is done with weaving some white satin ribbon along with some white stretchy curly and some pink satin. I loved playing with the weaving and it certainly does make a bold statement. I also added some white beading to draw your eye closer.
As I was making this card I was reminded of how in Ephesians it says: "From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." Eph.4:16 What a beautiful picture of believers having their lives woven together to support and love each other. So this card for me represents our woven lives. Is your life woven to others?

This weekend is a big day for my friend because it's her DIL baby shower day. Whoooo!!!!! I have finally made the card which was hard because I just have to many ideas for all things pink and sweet to go on a card. Do you ever find one baby gender easier to create for? I am sure many of you swirl with ideas for little boys but because I was raised in a family with all girls and my own family with girls well... pink is just more fun for me. Today I have been working on a baby book for a dear friends DIL baby shower. since they know it is a girl it makes picking colors all the easier. The invitation was the inspiration for this book, it was a sweet Beatrice Potter Bunny having a tea party. I used her in one of the pages here for all to see. The rest of the book I will not show because the proud grandma to be checks in here often so I want her to just be intrigued. The excitement she has for being a grandmother is only surpassed by the to be grandfather for sure. The both of them almost make one want to go out and get a grandbaby just to have because they are soon recieving their bundle of joy. Oh the joys of new birth.

White challenge

After traveling through a few hard hit with snow N.E. states it was so easy to decided to do this challenge over at the Crop Stop Blog. the challenge is to make a card using only white with the exception of black or brown for wording. With all the snow banks and icicles we were seeing the last couple of days I thought the silver would really reflect the iciness of the snow. This is my attempt at all on white card.
God also talks about snow in the scriptures, not the inches or feet some of us have had but how if we confess our sins and accept the work of the shed blood of Christ on the cross to cover our sins then he promises to forgive and cleanse us as white as snow. Now this is the kind of snow related subjects I can get excited about, how about you? Have you been cleansed by the blood?

Today ladies I am showing you what we over at CPC like to call a Sneak Peak. The design team has had the wonderful opportunity to be working with Laurne Meader atMy Time Made Easy using her fantastic digi stamps, papers, and great projects. Starting on Feb. 15 the Design Team Delights gallery will be open for you to see the "tons" of projects we all have been working on.

For this project I made this seed packet pattern and turned it into a recipe holder card. I thought it would be great to send my daughter a couple of recipes to add to her collection. This would also be cute done up for a shower display in the center of each table, these cards could be put on sticks and arranged in a bucket for all to take. As I created this card I wanted to keep it simple so the beauty of plain and simple could be seen. Sometimes I get over enthused with embellishments and overlook the beauty of simplicity, how about you? The quietness of a card's simplicity is at times exactly what the recipient needs in certain cases and others well shabang! they need the whole glitz thing to wake them up. For us as women God does consider our gentle and quiet spirits as something of worth so maybe less adornments for ourselves today may be in order, what do you think?

Quilling on wings

I have found another sweet vintage image that I just adore. I pulled out some of my quilling supplies and created just a bit of quilling to enhance this sweet little bird. Since it is still officially the love month I wanted to encourageall of us once again to be loving to one another.

I picked the bird image because I am reminded of how in Isaiah God says "those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Is.40:31 Have you been feeling tired, weary or hopeless lately? Then why not stop and put your hope in Christ who will renew your strength, ask today and you will be running and walking in the strength of our Lord and Savior. Now I understand this little bird is not the image of a mighty eagle but he is looking up for his help. Will you?

Antique look valentine

I had found a lovely book of antique pictures the other day and just knew I had to create some sort of Valentine's card with one of them. The Victorian era certainly enjoyed this "love" season with all the bows, lace, buttons and pearls they loved to use. Their cards were just dripping in "look of love".

As we adorn our Valentine cards with loads of embellishments why not think about adorning ourselves with the great "look of love" from God for others to see during the next few weeks. God has encouraged us to show his love by commanding us to live out this verse in 1 Peter. The love we show others today may be the only look of love someone dear to us will receive, will you be that living card of love today?

Since we have so much snow here in NE and we are getting a bit more today and next week I thought I would try and find some good use of this white stuff. It makes a great white backdrop for pictures especially when the sun is out. I know for those of you who are living this white nightmare of a dream it sounds like I am going a bit crazy. I do think most of us are for sure, creating is a great way to blow off the shut-in feeling.

For those who asked about the image in the last picture, it is a Peel-off sticker by my favorite company, Magenta . I mounted this sticker onto vellum colored it from the back to create a muted look, then placed it on white card stock. For this card I used a frame I had found along with this wonderful flowered ribbon. I was going for that romantic look, hope you enjoy it. As always I appreciate any comments you leave.

Today I have wandered over to CROP STOP and have decided to do this wonderful sketch challenge by Gloria. I work with Gloria over at CPC and she is one of the best. Her work is fantastic and I just love her zeal for God and her creative talent that she pours into her work.

Now that being said I also just adore Crop Stop where Gloria works on the blogs DT. Since the actual physical place where Crop Stop works from is not far from my home I do get to go visit and I will tell you that the girls that work there are fantastic and of course the owner well she is one beautiful woman inside and out. A touch of gold

Now this is what I created after I "helped" my husband last night. (scroll down to next post to see our version of a fun date) I love this paper with the teal and gold colors and after coming in wet and bedraggled I thought if I could not look golden then making a card would have to do. The gold reminds me of how God tells us that one day we will be walking in heaven on roads of gold. Now that certainly puts hope into my heart as I only see roads here with ice and snow on them. Know what I mean?

This dear friends is my tongue in cheek card for this week. We are expecting a two day storm in a few hours from now with SNOW, SLEET, RAIN, and ICE. I am begining to "think spring" hoping it will make all this winter weather go away. My mittens have been hung and rehung to dry for the last few weeks so much that I think they may be shrinking. I hope you get a chuckle out of this card and for those who will be sharing in my misery leave a comment to tell me what you do from going insane with snow storm after snow storm. Today I have decided to try the "Wings" challenge over at ODBD. Click on the picture to see the card clearer. I am still working on my quilling and thought these little butterflies would be just perfect for this challenge. I used ODBD Sing for Joy stamp set, stamping just a few words at a time to created interest. This paper from S.E.I. is what inspired me with the circles. Inspiration can come from everywhere but the best is when God inspires us with His Word spoken to us by His Spirit. Oh what a Great God we serve.

I have been thinking sweet romantic thoughts of late and decided I would make a rose which to me is a very romantic flower. The paper was given to me as someone else's cast off which I decided a rose made from this would just be perfect for the theme of love.

quilled Sunflowers

Today I was snowbound in the house. We have had a raging snowstorm for 14 hours with 10" of snow and with no way to leave the house. I took advantage of being quiet and did a bit of quilling. It has been awhile since I have quilled and I must say it is very relaxing. I chose a mono-chromatic color scheme as to keep the flowers center stage. I hope you will find some quiet time to create or read this week, it is so refreshing for the soul.

Now how much fun is this? I immediately remembered some of the old materials I had recently found while redoing my room. The product I found was Poly-Shrink which I have not used for at least 10 years. I was thinking of making a bookmark for my BSF leader as a way to encourage her and since we are studying Isaiah in this place in scripture I got out the poly-shrink and started to play. Oh what fun, it has been way to long. The new is my pearl flourish that I just found at the store and the paper from Basic Gray that I also found. I used a large heart from Spellbinders and then stamped the verse form ODBD and a flower then heated the thing until it got this small. I colored after with permanent markers, added the ribbon which is tucked behind the mounted card stock. Hope you will get out or find your poly-shrink and play a bit. New Beginings

As we step into this new year it is a great time to start to journal the events of this years journeys. I spent a bit of time going over some of my memories of how God manifested himself to us over the year and I must say it was amazing to see how we saw God work in the big events and the small things in life. I made this journal to help record some of the new ways I will see God this year and I hope you all will be inspired to set a bit of time writing your faith journal this year. We do know that God will be faithful to show up everyday, my problem is will I be faithful in looking for him? Have fun writing ladies.

Yesterday I received a new Cricut cartridge in the mail and could not wait to play with it, so at 4:30 this morning I played. Yes you heard me right, 4:30am was the hour. I have a dear friend who gets up every morning to play with her stamps at this time, Lisa your ways are contagious girl.

Anyway I saw a card made by Becca at Amazing Paper Grace awhile ago and saw what she made with this cartridge and just knew I needed to find it. I finally did on E-Bay and actually won the bid. A dear friend gave me this stamp just recently as a special gift to help inspire me to get making my Christmas cards. I don't know about you but I am not even close to finishing making my cards never mind writing them or sending them out. But at least there is one made only 30 more to go. I just love then simplicity of this stamp and the message of what Christmas is all about. Without the birth of our Savior this season would not exist. The world would like to eliminate Christ from our celebrations but for those of us who believe we could never let this happen. Maybe we should take time this season to let one other person on our card list know why we celebrate, spread a bit of the true Spirit with others.

Now that we have all survived the Thanksgiving food fest it is now time to turn our attention to last minute gifts to buy or create. As I was shopping the day AFTER black Friday I happened to find these little post-note pads at Michael's. They have a wonderful magnet closing and a monogram cover. I was looking at these sitting in the $1.00 bin and just knew I could not pass these by.

Next week I am having a fellowship with my Bible study group and I wanted to make each of the 14 just a small something to go along with the card I made them. These were perfect and who can beat the price. I just wanted to encourage you all to not pass by those $1.00 bins with a bit of altering the plain becomes a thing of beauty.

Today I am showing you a picture frame I made because I saw this wonderful flocked paper and just had to make something a bit more permanent then a card with it. I am a paper junkie and am always looking for different designs and textures for my paper.When I came across the butterfly embossed paper I just knew these tow had to marry one another on this frame. Along with this thought of marriage I found this picture of my cousin's daughter's wedding a few years back that just fit perfectly here. don't you just love it when a "marriage" works? Of course I know that is what pleases our God, marriages that give testimony to His love.

Tags for Christmas?

I am bringing you all a card that I made with ODBD Holly tag set. I wanted to be a bit more creative with the tags so I stamped 4 and over lapped them to give the appearance of one bordered center. I stamped two sayings form the set in opposite corners and them added some holly to the other empty sides. I added a ribbon in the center to hide the seam. This was all mounted on some DP and a few gems were added to give a bit of dimension. I think sometimes it's good to be creative using the "norm" of a stamp and changing it into something else. Will you try looking at your stamps in a different light?

God sometimes also wants us to "see" things differently. He encourages us to see beyond our limited sight and to be open to seeing Him and His ways afresh and anew.Sometimes we fall into the trap of limiting our knowledge of who he is to a small box, let's open our boxes and limited sight to be amazed at all that our God is. Poinsettia's

Yesterday we here in R.I. woke up to our first snow of the year.:( I had just begun thinking it was almost time for all those leaves to fall when slam the snow comes. This snow inspired me to really think about finishing (well almost finish) my Christmas cards. I have used ODBD new Poinsettia background stamp for this project and then used last months Poinsettia stamp and die for the center. I love the colors red and black so I kept it simple. This background stamp is a fantastic way to cover your paper, leaving it color free as I have or to get out you pens and color. The sky is the limit on this one. Check it out here.

Mistletoe the ODBD way

Today I made this card using ODBD Mistletoe tag set which had just been released for the month of Nov. I embossed the tag in white and the wording in brown. I found this stencil that is from Dream Weaver's stencils and just knew I had to use it for Christmas. I actually used it as a stencil, inking it with green ink. I used my new EK Success rick rack punch that I bordered the card with. Some pearls and ribbon top the whole look off. Again I went a bit outside the traditional colors of Christmas which I must say is a bit fun yet challenging. DRS Fall time

Around here in Southern R.I. we are having lots of rain which can be quite miserable to say the least. Along with this rain comes the falling of many of our leaves which we are beginning to be happy to see them go. As I was looking out my window seeing all these leaves I thought of this great stamp by DRS called Bountiful Basket. It has a great way of summing up what fall is like for our family here in the N.E. We love to apple pick and putting out a basket of leaves and pumpkins is what we like to have on our pourch at this time of year. I know it won't be long before the snow is falling but for now it is only leaves. I do love that our God is a God of seasons and purpose, He is never at a standstill and neither are we. Life continues on regardless of what we want.

Now on to my card details: I used for this card the new Mistletoe tag set, which is just so sweet. I embossed the sentiment and the tag in silver powder becasue silver is just so great for Christmas. I wanted to stay away from traditional red and green colors and picked out this beautiful lavender blue. For the bottom of the card I used silver webbing spray and added some pearls that went so perfectly with this trim I found. I cut out the saying with Spellbinders plain oval and then used the scallop oval to cut out the silver behind it. A bit of ribbon and some more pearls added to finish the look of femininity. Hope this will inspire you to try another color for you holiday cards.

You may have noticed I have been quiet for some time, last week our beloved little dog stopped walking. We have been tied up going to vets etc. and tending to him so I have had so little free time to create or to be here. On Monday of this week we had to put him down as his brain tumor had taken over his life. I rejoice in the fact that I have the wonderful Prince of Peace who carries our sorrows and makes our grief bearable. Without Christ ladies I really don't know how anyone can go through grieving and get to the other side of living. I do praise God for all that He carries for me, my God is a good God.

With that being said I am showing you a card that was made from ODBD set called Randi's song. I used the heart theme because ,well number one this is where the Spirit resides in me but also because Randi is so very dear to our hearts as well over at ODBD and at CPC, she is one special lady. I stamped the words to the set on white paper and then cut out parts of it with Spellbinder's heart dies and did a reverse layered look. I did get carried away with using the different heart dies that I had but this is what happens when your heart sings with joy. Today is another card made with a stamp from the new October release stamp sets from ODBD called MISSING YOU. I so enjoy this set because there are so many times that I myself have had that longing to see a loved one or a friend from the past but just did not think a stamp with "thinking of you" conveyed that message just right. Ever feel that way?

I found this gorgeous paper from s.e.i. that I fell head over heals with and it just begged me to use it here for that someone special. I used Spellbinders lacy circle and plain circle dies for the cutouts. I used one of the flowers from the paper and hand cut it and popped it up for a bit of interest. Of course you can see how I love pearls so I went a bit nutty with adding gold and brown pearls. Now with all this being said this card will be one of those hand delivered ones for sure.

For many years I try and keep a supply of small gifts that I can give to people as the Spirit moves. Ever do that? I recently went to that stash place and found it quite empty. :( As I began to paw through my art supply drawer I found this unfinished note pad journal and pen. I also that very day found this delightful paper by 7 Gypsies that I fell in love with. It is all old botanical prints that I just adore. The pad (which I have yet to find) is called Conservatory. If you love this type of look then I suggest you go a searching and collect it. I covered the front and added a small silver frame that I added a antique looking bee on. With some thread wrapped around the top and the pen covered I am set to go. I must say I will be looking to find other "gifts" for my stash for we all know the holidays are fast approaching. Is it time for you to start creating?

A child is born

I recently saw this beautiful navity on a blog somewhere and just knew I needed to add this to my collection of "have to have's". This is from Cricut's cartridge called When it's Cold Outside. Now this was not an easy task to find this cartridge and I was just about giving up when my dear friend Lisa (who by the way is an amazing woman)went searching and digging for days relentlsly until she found it within a reasonable price. This cartridge has an array of beautiful snowflakes using deer,gingerbread men, trees, santa and his sleigh plus more.

For me Christmas is all about celebrating the birth of our Savior so this is the one I hope to make my cards this year from. Now to get ingear and make about 50 more well now that is another story.

Don't you just love Christmas carols? I begin humming the tunes at this time of year preparing myself for what is to come. I really enjoy some of these spiritual songs as the words give us opportunity to praise God. In this card I have used the new Oct. release stamps by ODBD in a set called Blessed Christmas. I had found some old music sheets that are words to another great carol that I thought would be so befitting for these stamps. I also used the wonderful die that can be purchased to go with the poinsettia stamp to cut out the whole image. I used a bit of glitter glue to the flower and some pearls to dress this card up a bit to reflect just a touch of glam for the holiday. Before you know it ladies the humming of this tune will stop and we will be singing with words this song to worship him as we celebrate our Savior's birth. Oh what a joy it is to worship our King.

For the first time in 3 days I am able to get on the computer without something going wrong. I want to thank the ladies over at ODBD for getting my card here up and running behind the scenes. Thank you again ladies!

Embossing powders have become more sophisticated over the years. We have regular embossing powders, super fine powders, and tinsels powders to name a few styles not to mention all the fabulous color choices. Pick your color and your style. Computer Woes

To everyone who is trying to visit the Stamping in Time on assignment with Betty I am so sorry to inform you that I am experiencing major computer issues and cannot be linked to anyone. So please forgive me, and go back to where you came from and skip me and go onto Chris for the next stop. My computer is frozen along with everyone else in my family's computers due to our security system blocking a virus attack. It has done the job well but now it won't let us do anything so until the techs work this out for us I am down for a bit. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. Technology is great when it works otherwise UGH.

Missing you

As we are approaching the colder season here in the North East I myself am enjoying every day that we have "warmer" weather. My plants are still in bloom and the gardens minus the fallen leaves are looking very happy. I could not resist taking this card and placing it smack dab in the middle of some of my flowering inpatients. How fitting is this, a "garden card" within the flowers.

This card is made using ODBD new Missing You set which for garden lovers is a must. One can transform this garden into so many different splashes of colors for the different seasons.I used some flower soft for some of the flowers and for others I found some small flowers with beads attached that I used to embellish other flowers with. I cut out the image (before decorating) with Spellbinders oval punch three times and laid them over one another. I also paper pierced all around the edges of the DT plus the scallop edge. I wanted to add all of this detail because God himself uses so much detail in his creation. Aren't you amazed at times at the works of His hand?
